Wizards of the Coast revealed this Monday (21) a new strategy to integrate the products of the Universes Beyond line into the digital environment of Magic: The Gathering. Called Through the Omenpaths, the initiative aims to adapt tabletop sets that would not be released on MTG Arena or Magic Online, offering alternative versions with the same mechanics, but with different names, arts and environments.

These versions, dubbed Universes Within, will ensure that digital players have access to the mechanics of the tabletop sets, even if the original versions are not available on digital platforms. However, not all Universes Beyond products will receive this adaptation; the initiative will only apply to complete sets that are legal in all constructed formats and that are not scheduled for digital release.

The first expansion to follow this approach will be Marvel's Spider-Man, due out on September 26. The corresponding Through the Omenpaths version will launch on September 23, allowing digital players to experience the set's mechanics in a new guise.

On the other hand, the sets Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY and Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender, both scheduled for 2025, will be released directly on MTG Arena and Magic Online, maintaining full integration between the tabletop and digital versions.

With this strategy, Wizards seeks to ensure that players on all platforms have equitable access to new cards and mechanics, regardless of licensing or digital production limitations.
